Synopsis of the Curious Case of Benjamin Button
As a hurricane hits New Orleans, an elderly woman in critical condition opens her sleeping eyes. An old woman named Daisy (Cate Blanchett) asks her daughter Caroline (Julia Ormond) to read her a diary. The author of this diary is Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt). Benjamin was born at the end of the First World War, but he was born like an old man and was abandoned in a nursing home by his father as a monster. Benjamin lives with old people in a nursing home. But no one thought that Benjamin developed backwards – the younger he lived! Perhaps “the more you live, the younger you are” is some people’s dream, but Benjamin who really grew up like this has troubles and happiness that others cannot understand. Through half a century of world change, Benjamin is in the middle of it, feeling what no one else can feel.
Why would my mother let herself read this diary? What does Benjamin Button have to do with his mother? Caroline was deeply puzzled and curious.
