The plot of Hacksaw Ridge
In 1945, as World War II drew to a close, the arrogance of Japan, an important member of the axis of evil, had become a spent force. In that year, the decisive battle of Okinawa began, and thousands of motivated American soldiers were sent to Okinawa, where they were waiting for the enemy’s heavily defended and dangerous Hacksaw Ridge. In the midst of this crowd, however, was a military doctor who refused to take up arms. His name is Desmond Dawes (Andrew Garfield) and he is from Virginia, USA. When the Pacific erupted, Desmond, who was thin and frail, volunteered as a medic and enlisted in the army. However, due to childhood and family reasons, he was always reluctant to pick up a gun to practice, so he would rather carry the charge of refusing to serve in the military court. After many twists and turns, Desmond and his comrades finally arrived at Hacksaw Ridge. In a flash, countless people fell to the ground. Backed by faith and conviction, Desmond has single-handedly saved dozens of dying lives…
The film is based on a real story.
