Synopsis of the Paradise Cinema
In a small town in southern Italy, the strange little boy Toto (Savatli Casio) likes to watch movies, and even likes to watch the projectionist Alfredo (Philippe Noirre) show movies, he and Alfredo become old friends, and find the joy of childhood life in the film.
In order to let more people see the film, the good Alfredo staged an open-air film, and the film caught fire, and Toto saved Alfredo from the fire, but Alfredo was blinded. Toto becomes the only person in the town who can show movies, and he succeeds Alfredo as the town’s film projectionist.
As Toto (Mark Leonardi) grows older, he falls in love with the banker’s daughter, Elena (Agnes Nano). The pure love of first love is as beautiful as heaven, but the vows of a young couple are interrupted by Elena’s father, Toto to do military service, and Elena to go to college. Heartbroken Toto, encouraged by Alfredo, leaves town to pursue his dream in life…
Thirty years later, when Alfredo died, Toto, now an accomplished director, returned to his hometown, saw the dilapidated Cinema Paradiso, and mourned the past.
