In East Germany in 1984, society was under the repressive rule of the State Security Service, Agent Weisman (Ulrich Muhe) is ordered to spy on the lives of playwright Drayman (Sebastian Koch) and his girlfriend, actress Christina (Martina Gedeck). Weisman gradually became interested in the family’s life and began to help them secretly. An article in the German newspaper Der Spiegel catches the attention of secret service bosses, who believe it was written by Dreiman and arrest Christina, hoping to get a secret out of her husband. And it was Weisman who interrogated Christina…
